As tu ressenti une amélioration sonore en passant de la SqueezeBox au Dune Base ?

Bonjour,
Depuis une semaine je suis équipé pour dématérialisé mes CD, j'ai pris un LIV Zen VortexBox - Music Server NAS, fonctionnant sous Linux Fedora 16, il fait partie de la famille de Vortexbox.

Il ne génère que des fichiers .Flac, il est sans ventilateur, il a un disque de 2To, je récupère le signal pas la sortie USB.

Actuellement, je le commande via mon mini réseau.
J'utilise Logitech Media server qui est installé dans le serveur.
Un abonnement a Bliss était compris dans l'offre pour récupéré les pochette.

Honnêtement, pas de différence sensible sur les mêmes fichiers en WAV. Par contre, j'étais ennuyé par des interruptions avec la squeezebox, et aussi par le fait d'avoir le logiciel serveur sur un PC. Avec la Dune, le système est autonome, et en video, c'est très bon.

I had no problems with interruptions from the Squeezebox. The system is very flexible, one can connect a USB Harddisk-drive directly to the Squeezebox or one can have totally silent standalone operation from SD-Card Memory (limited to 32 GB data on one card) so a PC or Server is not needed.

For me high resolution audio files like 24/96 e.g. makes a big difference in sound quality compared to CD-quality especially when using my MF VDAC-II which has a incredibly precise resolution. (I would like to recommend to test this device and compare it A/B to very expensive DACs)

Hi Johannes,

As explained before, the choice of the Dune was dictated by the fact that I wanted a system independant from the PC, and I was interested by the video performance of the Dune (mainly for operas). The Dune can also play high resolution files and I must admit that this V-Dac is very tempting... The price is very attractive ! I had a Benchmark and I have replaced it by an Accuphase DAC20 module in my Accuphase E-530.

Hi Dominique,

sorry, I did not think of video, because I do not combine audio with video myself.

I found the V-Dac better than the Benchmark. I think I even like it better than the NAIM Dac - I have to repeat this comparison V-DAC/NAIM at home when a friend brings me his NAIM. As for now the NAIM was amongst the DACs which I liked most. But it is 10 times more expensive than the new V-DAC.

Another advantage of this cost effective V-DAC-design is it's asynchronous USB implementation. So I can use it also together with my laptop computer playing 24/96 via USB.

I am also very much interested in your feedback concerning the V-DAC - looking forward to read from you when you have it.
A friend who Is the owner of a electronics Company which is in R&D for high-end automotive applications, told me I have to try. He could afford the most expensive stuff and knows a lot about DACs, but he also uses this humble device at home.

The VOTT is a older story. I was not very happy with this at home. But I know some very good VOTT-Systems owned by friends. Some worked on it for decades. There is also the VOTT of Yves which I know from Melaudia which is a very good one I think.

My special interest is to try to bring out as much as possible of old Radio-Speakers building special resonant cabinets for this. I like the musical coherence of full range single-cone setups.

Not so long ago, I have designed a 3-Way Horn System with old SABA drivers. This one is good for the big cinema horn sound and explosive dynamics.

C'est un concurrent de Foobar apparemment avec une fonctionnalité de ripage automatique si je comprends bien, cela doit être assez pratique pour ripper une grande CD thèque. As tu pu comparer les deux logiciels, ou est-ce le côté intégré du LIV ZEN qui t'a séduit?
Il a l'air assez sympa effectivement, même si pas de sortie SPDIF directe ce qui m'ennuie

Non, je n'ai pas comparer avec Foobar, mais effectivement le coté intégré m'a fait choisir cette appareil.
Oui que du USB en sortie, cela reste un serveur malgré ces fonctions dédier et automatiser.
