A vendre: Field-coil speakers

2 HP 12" altec 414 (base Great Plains Audio), 8 ohms, excitation Wolf Von Langa, neufs jamais servis et jamais montés.

1450 euros les deux Hps avec 2 alimentations de laboratoire Voltcraft vlp-1303 pro neuves jamais servis.

(prix neuf d'un hp 924,37 euro HT facture à l'appui, et prix d'une alim 209 euro TTC chez conrad. Achat des hp Décembre 2010).

" I suggest 1500 Hz for the beginning and about 7-8V DC for the woofer, and 8-9V DC for the tweeter. Use a big metal sheet (alumnium or copper 2-3mm) between the driver and the wooden horn to add additional cooling surface for the tweeter."

"did you look for VLP-1405 Pro before? Should be available for about 220 EUR / pc. and is very very good.
You will need two of them all together. You should always connect field coil speakers in series (not parallel). Two woofers on one power supply, two tweeters on the other. In this configuration you will gain maximum flexibility.
With the woofers I recommend to start with 16V in series and the tweeters with 18V in series. You should play with current/voltages in the 2-3V range but listen first and don't expect that sound differs completely when changing current/voltages. Be patient with yourself and hear. When you start the very first time you will become aware that sound changes very much within the first 10 minutes. After playing a few days this time window will shorten to about 5 minutes. Switch off your speakers if you don't listen for hours. And check the warmth of the tweeter when you don't have an aluminium horn. If you touch the tweeter and it is hot (you don't want to keep your hands on them for more than 2 seconds) it is only 45 degrees Celsius which is normal and does not give you any problem. Running the tweeter for hours with more than 50 degrees should be avoided and you have to think about a copper or aluminium sheet between the drivers and horns (if you don't use an aluminium or bronze adaptor/horn)."
